Ryanair and Expedia in dispute over contract

15/10/2008
Airline Ryanair has issued travel company Expedia with a 30-day notice of intent to end its hotel contract with the firm, it has been reported.

Ryanair says it is cancelling a deal with Expedia as the latter has allegedly failed to honour the terms of payment set out in the contract, saying Expedia have breached a number of obligations in recent months.

The contract will stop on November 8th but could continue if Expedia makes amends for the alleged payment failures.

Originally started on 21st March last year, the agreement allowed Expedia exclusive rights to sell hotel accommodation on Ryanair's website.

In a statement, Ryanair claimed it has made "strenuous efforts" to try to resolve the conflict but that Expedia have given them "no alternative" but to cancel the contract.

Expedia have hit out at Ryanair over the claims, with chief executive of the company Dara Khosrowshahi saying: "We are disappointed by the statement made by Ryanair earlier today, as we believe that Expedia has complied in every respect with the terms of our agreement with Ryanair."
