Buy-to-let investors not planning to sell
New figures have shown that property investors with residential rental stock are taking a long-term view on investment and most expect to hold their properties for the next 20 years.
Solicitors in Northern Ireland may be interested to hear that the investors are not planning to sell their properties, even if prices continue to fall, a survey by the Association of Residential Lettings Agents (Arla) shows.
The latest quarterly Arla Review and Index also shows that the number of buy-to-let investors not planning to sell in the next 12 months has risen from 77 to 88 per cent.
As this number increases, the Arla says the rental sector can count on the investors to provide housing for people in the recession.
"Again and again, these independent surveys show that buy-to-let landlords are helping to guarantee the growth of the private rented sector," said Ian Potter, head of operations for Arla.
Northern Ireland experienced a 34.2 per cent decline in property values last year, according to Nationwide.
