Companies 'should think carefully' before reducing staff perks
04/02/2010
Northern Ireland businesses looking to cut back on employee perks such as the provision of free tea and coffee may want to think twice before taking any action, it has been suggested.
According to uSwitchforbusiness.com's expert in small business Jake Ridge, the morale of a firm's workers might be negatively impacted by such changes.
He commented: "Perks like free tea and coffee do add up but the cost is minimal when compared with the value that staff place on them."
Mr Ridge made his remarks following the publication of new figures from his organisation.
As many as 32 per cent of those workers polled in a recent survey by the website feel that morale can be positively influenced in the workplace by low-key benefits such as freely available refreshments.
Meanwhile, uSwitch.com has also recently raised awareness of the higher energy bills that UK workers may have to address over the coming years.
