Northern Irish employers 'must maintain skill base'
05/02/2010
Businesses in Northern Ireland have been encouraged to continue their focus on employee skills and training.
The Northern Ireland Executive's minister for employment Sir Reg Empey believes that, by doing this, firms could help to strengthen the country's economy.
He commented: "Government, employers and education and training providers [should] continue to work together in partnership to ensure that the skills base in the workforce, both now and for the future, is maintained."
Sir Reg has also highlighted the effort that is required in order to overcome the effects of the economic downturn that the country has suffered from in recent months.
The remarks made by the minister follow the launch of a new Complete Construction Training Services facility.
He recently noted the help that is being offered by the Northern Ireland Executive to members of the country's workforce who have recently been made unemployed.
