8.1% Q4 capital growth seen in commercial property sector

08/02/2010
A substantial capital growth was witnessed in the UK's commercial property sector during the closing quarter of 2009, new figures have suggested.

Growth of 8.1 per cent was seen during the three-month period in question, IPD has reported.

Ian Cullen, the organisation's co-founding director, used the recent IPD UK 2009 Results Launch event to outline the contrast that has recently been noted between commercial property yields and rents.

He commented: "When the dust finally settled on the oscillations of last year, what emerged was a picture of rents and yields going in counter-intuitive directions."

The 2009 results released by the IPD were outlined at the Cadogan Hall venue based in Sloane Square.

While investors in Northern Ireland and other UK regions may welcome IPD's announcement, property owners further afield may also be keen to note some of the findings contained in the Global Commercial Property Survey recently published by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
