Ad agencies' legal dispute continues
07/08/2007
The dispute between An Agency Called England (AACE) and marketing consultants Fuse 8 group is set to see court in November for a five-day hearing if negotiations can not be made by the firms' solicitors.
AACE has raised an injunction order on one of their former employees after accusing him of poaching clients for his new role at Fuse 8, the Drum reports.
Nigel Hunter, who used to be director of strategy and planning at AACE, was one of four of the agency's staff members to move to Fuse 8 Group, where he now has a role as a director.
But at least one high value client has moved their contract from An Agency Called England to Fuse 8 since his move, although Fuse 8 insists that it had not attempted to poach any of its rival's customers.
However, AACE wants Mr Hunter to be banned from working within ten miles of the firm, which Fuse 8 is challenging.
A spokesman from Fuse 8 told the Drum: "It was never a question of going after their clients. We have enough of our own. You have a situation which is not conducive to a productive environment within Leeds. It has all got awfully messy."
Business in Britain and Northern Ireland are always better off resolving matters through solicitors to avoid excess court costs, but it seems neither firm is prepared to back down.
