UBM moves to 'more favourable Irish tax regime'
29/04/2008
Global business media company United Business Media (UBM) has said it plans to move its tax base to Ireland in order to make the most of the more favourable tax regime there.
According to the firm, the move reflects its move closer to the international market.
Despite being based in Britain, UBM currently gains around 85 per cent of its income from outside of the UK.
In a statement, the firm said its "best interests" were served by moving abroad and adopting an international holding company corporate structure in Ireland because of their "less complex" tax system.
UBM has revealed that the company will be UK-listed and incorporated in Jersey.
Shire Pharmaceuticals has also announced a planned transfer to Ireland.
Solicitors in Northern Ireland can offer tax advice to companies looking to reduce their tax bills.
Ireland has a corporation tax of 12.5 per cent, compared to the UK rate of 28 per cent.
