RoSPA awards celebrate success in workplace safety

30/05/2008
A charity has held an awards ceremony recognising the achievements of firms in workplace safety.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Awards are open to companies in Northern Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales as well as companies based outside the UK.

Award categories include gold, silver and bronze categories for those who can demonstrate their achievements.

The Sir George Earle Trophy is also awarded to the company who can prove it has made the best provisions for occupational health and safety.

RoSPA chief executive Tom Mullarkey commented that the awards indicated that many businesses take workplace safety seriously.

He added: "Thousands of people are alive and well today because of the effort that every member of these organisations has put into ensuring a sensible approach to controlling workplace risks."

The awards are sponsored by the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health.
