Debt collectors due to visit Northern Ireland evaders
10/06/2008
People in Northern Ireland without a TV license may need to purchase one before viewing the Apprentice final as debt collectors will be out investigating who is watching the programme.
Such high viewing figures during the final of the popular TV show mean that many licence-evaders are likely to be watching the broadcast, the Belfast Telegraph reports.
Those caught watching television without a licence can face a fine or need to employ a solicitor to represent them in court.
Spokeswoman for TV Licensing Northern Ireland Deborah King told the Belfast Telegraph that people intending to watch the show illegally should "think again".
During last year's final of the show, 127 people in Northern Ireland were caught watching television without a licence.
This week, Lee McQueen, Alex Wotherspoon, Helene Speight and Claire Young will battle it out for a job with Sir Alan Sugar and a six-figure salary.
