Belfast 'UK's fastest-growing economy'

Belfast has been the fastest-growing economy of the 30 largest British cities over the past decade, a new report has found.
Northern Ireland's regeneration projects and investment in the province have meant that local talents are being revealed and more business and commercial interests are moving to the area.
According to Howard Spencer, chairman of the firm who produced the report URY Hacker Young: "Belfast's ability to capitalise on the growing trends in the service and knowledge economy has done the rest in propelling the city amongst the most prosperous areas of the UK."
Over the past decade, Belfast has experienced a 99 per cent increase in Gross Value Added to £26,792 per capita, per year.
This puts the city behind Edinburgh at £28,432 and London at £27,672, the firm reported.
In response to the news that an international firm was to bring specialist IT jobs to Northern Ireland, economy minister Arlene Foster said that the success of the province was down to a strong skills base, which made the province "an excellent place to invest".
