Charity struggles to deal with NI debt enquiries
The Citizens Advice bureau has warned that they are struggling to keep up with the rising number of debt enquiries in Northern Ireland as the level of debt in Northern Ireland is growing so quickly.
The report, entitled 'Dealing with Debt 2009/10' shows a 7% increase in the assistance provided in 2009 compared to the year before, with 2,500 people receiving advice in respect of over £33million in debt. The report also shows a staggering 42% increase in redundancy queries with 3,333 people in Northern Ireland getting advice.
And the project manager Scott Kennerley believes we have yet to see the full impact of the recession, as the public sector reliant economy will be shook up by government cuts leading to increased levels of unemployment.
