Divorce woman has house restriction lifted

An unnamed woman who was ordered to live at a specified address nearly two years ago, after her divorce, has had the restriction which she compared to "house arrest" removed by a High Court judge.

The woman had been ordered to remain at the specific address to allow her ex-husband, who lived nearby, to maintain contact with their children. In the High Court Mr Justice Charles said that the woman should be free to find work and support her children in the manner she saw fit, and that the restriction was also affecting the ability of her children to have a relationship with other family members.

The woman was not represented by a solicitor at the private hearing in the family division of the High Court in London. She is to remain in England or Wales pending the resolution of ongoing divorce proceedings - a High Court hearing is due to take place later in the year. The judge did reiterate that the father of the children still had a right to regular contact and that the woman was required to comply with a previous court order in respect of child access arrangements.
