Inability to handle product 'could be biggest barrier to E-Commerce'
E-Commerce sellers could lose out because of customers' inability to touch a product and assess its quality, a retail expert has claimed.
Sites are able to help combat this problem and attract "quality-driven" buyers by providing multiple product reviews, close-up images and detailed descriptions of products, Marcus Austin from Mercado told Internet Retailing.
According to the expert, quality-driven buyers will also be attracted to E-Commerce firms who also have retail outlets if they offer options to pick up the products in-store.
Other advice given by Mr Austin includes offering an online-tracking service and calling customers if their delivery is likely to be delayed.
E-Commerce advisory site free-ecommerce-information.com says that online shopping is made up of four areas which need to be carefully planned by retailers: an online catalogue, a shopping cart, a payment system and an order processing and delivery department.
Solicitors in Northern Ireland are able to offer advice to businesses wanting to set up E-Commerce sites.
