More workers 'happy in their jobs'
Solicitors in Belfast and Northern Ireland could see fewer claims for people being badly treated at work, as studies show that employers seem to be increasingly concerned with being fair to their workers.
According to the Great Place to Work Institute, solicitors in Belfast and Northern Ireland could see fewer workers filing grievances as managers are making an effort to improve conditions.
Three-quarters of employees working for the UK's 'Best Workplaces' say they want to work for their company for a long time, up from only 44 per cent the year before.
Some 86 per cent of employees in Britain and Northern Ireland say they feel they are a member of the team and 76 per cent believe that management is sincere in their interest in their personal welfare.
As many as 74 per cent of employees in Britain and Northern Ireland feel their colleagues avoid getting involved in office politics, up from 63 per cent in 2003.
Williams Johnson, business development and sales manager for the Great Place to Work Institute, said: "One of the things we are seeing at the moment is that more and more people are tending to stay for three years in a company rather than just switching and going into another company.
"I think it's two [things] - one is the economy, and the other is the fact that the companies are really trying to focus on the quality of workplace and invest not only a lot of money but also time in the sense of creating this environment."
" We're seeing more and more companies saying: 'I would like to understand how I can improve my workplace'," he added. "I think there is
an increasing realisation that by [improving] the quality of the workplace, you can reap the benefits and grow a lot faster."
Solicitors are likely to see fewer bosses prepared to risk losing employees as the average cost of replacing a worker in Belfast and Northern Ireland is about £8,200 per employee per year.
