NI employers to be offered HMRC tax guidance
Employers in Northern Ireland are being given the chance to improve their knowledge of the country's tax system this month, as part of a new scheme launched by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
HMRC will be running a number of workshops throughout October to advise businesses in areas like Belfast and Bangor on issues such as VAT and statutory sick pay.
Julie Jones, the HMRC's business advice team manager, commented that it is important tax issues are made as clear as possible for people.
She added: "Our attitude has always been to assist businesses during good times and in bad, so these events allow us to bring our advice directly to the business community in Northern Ireland and offer practical assistance where it is needed."
HMRC recently launched a new online system, allowing people to report instances of tax evasion more effectively in the UK.
The service will enable members of the public to raise awareness of evasion relating to areas like income tax and inheritance tax.
