Asbestosis is a serious long-term lung disease caused by the inhalation of asbestos fibres over a prolonged period, which become lodged in the lungs. The lung tissue becomes thickened and scarred. This gradually affects the ease of breathing. The main symptoms include, breathlessness, coughing and a feeling of tightness in the chest. Asbestosis may damage the function of the lungs and lead to further diseases.
Asbestos related injuries such as pleural plaques, asbestosis, lung cancer or mesothelioma may not develop for many years after exposure. However, if you believe that your current healthproblems could be related to asbestos exposure or even if you believe that your health has been put at risk from exposure, you may be able tomake a successful claim.
Our team has great experience in dealing with Asbestos related claims in particular and are in a position to advise you on the best form of action to pursue.
If you were exposed to asbestos either directly at work or indirectly (for example through washing the clothes of a family member) and suffer from an illness as result, you may be entitled to compensation both here in the UK and in US .
If you would like more information or you think you might be entitled to compensation for a free initial evaluation please contact one of our experienced team members profiled on the right of this web page, telephone 0800 316 0696 or email litigation@wilson-nesbitt.com.
