Planning permission granted for Belfast office block in record time

By Neil Logan

A £65million office block project in Belfast city centre has been granted planning permission just 8 weeks after plans were lodged, demonstrating Belfast City Council's awareness of the "acute and increasing demand for grade A office accommodation in the city".

The One Bankmore Square project will be built on the site of the current Movie House Cinema building on Dublin Road in Belfast city centre, and the 12-storey building may yet include a new cinema along with the office space for approximately 3,000 workers. The Richland Group are developing the project and say it will be the largest office block in Northern Ireland. Click here to read more about the project.

The commercial property market in Northern Ireland has grown steadily in the past few years, with a particular emphasis on addressing the shortage of Grade A office space. The One Bankmore Square project is the 21st commercial office development approved by Belfast City Council in 2 years.
