Northern Ireland property sale levels rose in Q2

By Christine Farrell

The latest Property Price index shows an increase in the number of property sales in Northern Ireland in the second quarter of this year, with 3,460 house purchases, compared to 3,268 in the first quarter.

Sales of apartments dropped from 253 to 204 over the two quarters, while all other property types saw an uplift in purchase levels. Sales of terraced properties, which are the cheapest of all the house types, increased the most - from 1027 to 1138, showing that activity is particularly strong at the lower priced end of the property market. Detached house purchases increased from 980 to 1,055, and semi-detached properties increased from 1,008 to 1,063.

The latest report by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency shows prices have increased across all property types for the first time since the second quarter of 2007.
